Hibiscus is the National Flower of Malaysia, and
it is locally known as “Bunga Raya”.
Some even named it as “Queen of the
Tropical”.
It is chosen as the national flower by the first
Prime Minister of Malaysia. The reason why Hibiscus is being chosen as National
Flower of Malaysia is because the flower is found abundance throughout the
country. Besides, it’s uniqueness of having five petals symbolizes the Rukun Negara, which is the principle of
nationhood, and the red colour of the flower itself symbolizes courage and
unity of its people.
It is a common sight to find Hibiscus in
Malaysia, especially the household gardening plants and along the road sides.
Furthermore, this flower is not just stunning in
gardens, yet it also serves in medicinal purposes. The hibiscus tea itself
contains health benefits, where it is used to lower blood pressure.
